LESSER KNOWN CYCLADES ISLANDS – KYTHNOS -SIFNOS -MILOS

LESSER KNOWN CYCLADES ISLANDS BUT STILL BEAUTIFUL

Athens No more to say about the candle of western civilization. Just come to see!

Kythnos island. Despite its proximity to Attica’s coast, Kythnos is one of the lesser-known islands in the Cyclades. The southern part is practically uninhabited, and in the north you will find Merichas (where the island harbour is located), Chora or Mesaria (the island capital), Loutra and Dryopida. Its countryside is dotted with bald hills, dry-stone walls that stretch for kilometres ahead and more than 350 snow white little chapels scattered around the island. It has more than 65 beaches (the majority ending in off-road access tracks) and picturesque villages with the narrow cobbled streets, the white-washed houses, squares, churches and windmills. The island was inhabited from the 10th century BC by the Dryopians, residents of Evia.

Sifnos island. Located in the southwest part of the Cyclades island group, Sifnos is popular for its architecture, local delicacies (cuisine), pottery and ceramic art and hiking as well as its nightlife during summer. It has 365 churches dotted all over the landscape and feels a little bit like the island that time forgot

Milos island. located on the western side of Cyclades, is a romantic destination with gorgeous beaches. Due to its volcanic landscape, the beaches of Milos vary in geological formation. Counting more than 70 beaches around the island, Milos is blessed with marvelous and pristine shores, Provatas, Tsigrado, Firiplaka, Paleochori Pachaina, Agios Ioannis, Achivadolimni and Gerontas are among the most beautiful beaches on the island, while Kleftiko and Sarakiniko with inlets, caves and the white lunar landscape rocks will blow your mind away! Worth visiting also are the small colourful houses by the sea in Klima and Fyropotamos, the so-called “sýrmata”, which the fishers used as shelter for their boats in winter and the Catacombs of Tripiti and the mystical Sulfur Mines. Last but not least, there are local tastes offering a special gastronomic experience.
