Peloponnese in the south part of Greece has a little bit of everything, great archeological sites such as ancient Olympia, Epidaurus, Mycenae and Tirynth, Byzantine churches, unique settlements and amazing castles, natural beauties such as mountains, forests, rivers and caves surrounded by the sea, beautiful beaches, sandy and smooth coasts on the west – rocky and dentelated on the east, fantastic gorge and river crossings make this part of Greek land ideal for holidays, 4X4 jeep safari and trekking adventures.
In this tour we’ll cross Vouraikos gorge with rack railway, hike on Vouraikos gorge to Kalavryta, river trekking in Lousios and Neda rivers and hike at beautiful island of Hydra.

Day 1: Arrival Athens – Delphi.(_,_,D)

Athens arrival, Meet our staff at the airport, welcome. Drive to Delphi. Guided tour to Delphi archeological site and museum. Delphi city considered by the ancients Greeks to be the center (omphalos= navel) of the earth and a religious center. We’ll see the archeological site, Temple of Apollo, Theater, Market, the famous Omphalos(= navel of the earth), and finally the Delphi Museum with the amazing sculptures. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 2: Delphi Ancient Foot Path hiking – Kalavryta (B,L,D)

Follow the footsteps (5hrs – 3 hrs walking) of the ancient pilgrims. The ancient path from Delphi to the port of ancient Kirra was used by the ancient pilgrims to reach the Oracle of Delphi. Then drive to Ag Nikolaos and take the ferry to Aegio and from there drive to Kalavryta. Dinner at the hotel or a local tavern.
ALTERNATIVE hiking the E4 European long distance path, which connects Delphi with the alpine village of Eptalofos (Agoriani). The route passes through dense fir forests, crossing the core of the Parnassos National Park. The path is part of the ancient path that connected Delphi with ancient Lilaia and northern Greece.

Day 3: Vouraikos gorge Rack railway and hiking – Dimitsana( B,L,D)

After breakfast take the rack railway and cross Vouraikos gorge to Diakopto. Then from Diakopto hike the gorge upwards to Zachlorou station where you can
have your lunch and visit Mega Spylaio monastery At first you will pass by large lemon and olive groves. Then the scenery changes completely as you go past tunnels and red precipitous mountainsides eroded by the continuous flow of water. Then drive through central Peloponnesus to Dimitsana. Dinner at the hotel or a local tavern.

Day 4: Lousios River hiking (B,L,D)

Lousios River Hiking(3hrs). Morning drive to Ancient Gortyna Site. We walk in trails parallel and through Lousios river gorge. We visit the monastery of St.John Prodromou built on the cliffs of the gorge and the monastery of Philosophou, the archaeological ruins of ancient Gortys and the Open Air Water Power Museum. Dinner at a local tavern.

Day 5: Lousios River Rafting – Andritsaina  (B,L,D)

Rafting Lousios river (moderate plus, 4hrs). Lousios river is where Zeus bathed after his birth, according to Pausanias the Greek traveler and geographer of the 2nd century AD. A 2nd degree of difficulty rafting descent in the river’s crystal clear waters, inside a spectacular densely vegetated gorge. Discover the hidden natural wonders of the area, starting from Lousios, continuing to Alfios River, and ending to the spectacular bridge of “Koukos”. Then driving to Andritsaina or Kalo Nero. Dinner at a local tavern.

Day 6: River Trekking Neda – Olympia (B,L,D)
River Trekking Neda (4hrs -moderate plus). A spectacular river trek, inside, out and around Neda, one of the few rivers in Greece with a female name. We pass through stone bridges, narrow cliffs, underwater caves and impressive waterfalls, walk along the riverbanks and inside the river, and swim to pass through the narrower parts of the gorge. We end up in a paradisaical scenery, a magnificent waterfall creating natural river pools where we can swim completing our extraordinary experience. Drive to Olympia. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 7: Ancient Olympia – Vitina hiking -Nafplio (B,L,D)
Guided visit to Ancient Olympia site and museum. Will visit the archeological site with the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Hera, the altar of the Olympic flame, the Olympic stadium where the first Olympic Games took place in 776 B.C, and the archaeological museum with the famous Hermes sculpture of Praxitelus. Then drive to Vitina. ΗΙiking (3hrs) from Vitina to Elati through Mainalon forest. Then continue driving to Nafplio. In the evening dinner at a local tavern with Greek bouzouki music.

Day 8: Hydra island hiking – Departure (B,_,_)
Morning drive to Ermioni or Tolo and take the boat to Hydra island. Take a short circular hike to Mandraki. Trail (6,5km 2,5hrs) ascends along the cobblestone alleys towards the east, passing by traditional mansions and churches, to exit the town of Hydra towards the chapel of Stavros, continue facing the sea to Mandraki and return to Hydra port. Return to Ernioni or Tolo. Picked up and drive to Athens airport for your departure.
